This is a fascinating work that really opens up a window in understanding Orthodox life in Eastern Europe during the 19th and early decades of the 20th Century .This was a time of great change in the Jewish world as the traditionalist societies of Poland and Lithuania had to grapple with the challenges of haskala ,reform ,secular zionism ,socialism,czarist repression and eventually communism . There were also the internal conflicts between chassidim and misnagdim ,mainstream yeshiva and mussar . Rabbi Menachem Gluskin ,a scion of Chabad , was the son in law of Rabbi Eliezer Rabinowitch av bet din of minsk who in turn was the son in law of Rav Yeruchum Eliyahu Pearlman the Minsker Gadol. Thus a unique relationship of respect existed in this family that incorporated a Hasid (Rav Menachem) among litvish lomdish Talmudic scholars stemming from the streams of the Netziv and the GRA. .The examination of the life and times of this great tzadik and talmid chacham is not only inspirational but sheds light on a crucial part of Jewish history .Dr. Levy and Rabbi Serebryanski are to be highly commended for this informative ,interesting labor of love .

I highly recommend this book. The authors definitely represent our Jewish history as some of the most profound Jewish thinkers in our lifetime. It is excellently written; simplifying complex ideas lucidly, and easy to digest. It is enlightening and enriched with valuable knowledge.
