The octopus is one of God’s most amazing creatures. Ever since visiting The Wetlands Institute in Cape May County, New Jersey and seeing the octopus at feeding time, the author has been intrigued with the unusual abilities of this exceptional creature. It tastes food with its arms, changes colors, solve puzzles with its nine brains, and sees and recognizes people. Surprisingly, there are few stories written for the holiday of Hanukkah that include an octopus. Its eight arms are a perfect fit for a Hanukkah story that celebrates lighting the eight-branched hanukkiah.
