Mapping Jewish Libraries

The “Mapping Jewish Libraries” database brings together, on a searchable platform, information about Jewish libraries’ holdings in Europe.  Researchers, students and other users can locate collections of Jewish materials to meet their needs.  About 200 libraries are registered in the database, and they can be retrieved by their names, addresses, type of institution and material types in their collections.

This project is generously funded by the Rothschild Foundation (Hanadiv) Europe

Many European libraries maintain and develop collections of Jewish materials: libraries of Jewish organizations and communities, libraries of Christian institutions, national and public libraries and academic libraries. A wide variety of Jewish materials can be found in these collections: manuscripts and incunabula, modern books and periodicals, sound recordings and photographs and in recent years digital collections as well.
