Francis Kotula, a Christian schoolteacher, risked his, and his family’s life when smuggling these hand-written notes out of the city of Rzeszow, Poland, on a regular basis during the Nazi occupation. This book is the only known account of what actually happened to the Jews of Rzeszow as seen by an eyewitness to all the atrocities. Kotula was in a unique position and situation to observe and record what he saw to fellow citizens he knew reasonably well. It is his frank, open-mindedness, of these events that we are duty bound to preserve.
