Haven's Point by Darrin J Friedman

The aftermath of the war between the states has not been kind to Confederate General Jonathan Abraham. The once-formidable “Jew General of the South” has become an impoverished recluse, cut off from the world and haunted day and night by gruesome memories of unspeakable violence. Jonathan is not really alive so much as just stumbling through the soulless and irredeemable existence of a man who has lost his purpose, and his faith. In a twist of fate, Jonathan is recruited by his sworn enemy, President Ulysses S. Grant, to embark on a special mission to save a small town in Tennessee from racial hatred and violence. But in the seemingly quaint community of Haven’s Point, there is an evil lurking from Jonathan’s past—something so sinister that he is not sure he has the strength to make it out alive.
